Summer and Research in Munich

19 students from 13 different countries – The NIM Summer Research Program

For the second time the Nanosystems Initiative Munich (NIM) has invited students with a strong background in natural sciences to participate in eight weeks of compelling and demanding research in nanotechnology.

On each of the 12 projects in Munich, Garching, Großhadern and Augsburg up to two students work as a team. They are supported by a graduate fellow acting as a research mentor.

19 young researchers from 13 countries are our guests in Munich. They come from countries as diverse as USA, Cameroon, Brazil, India or China.

Supported by state-of-the-art equipment , the students shall apply themselves to demanding topics in the Nano Sciences, sharpen their scientific and technical expertise as well as develop their scientific writing and presentation skills.

Since the scientific education is not the only intent of the program, the students shall also experience German culture and life-style. The supporting program therefore offers trips to Berlin and Castle Neuschwanstein. Furthermore the students are encouraged to plan and organize their own weekend activities.

On 2 July all participants had the opportunity to get to know each other over dinner. The scientific program started on 3 July with an Opening Workshop.
