New Spin-Off Company: NanoTemper

The LMU scientists Philipp Baaske and Dr. Stefan Duhr have founded the company NanoTemper Technologies. The technological background of the company was established in the Emmy-Noether group of Dr. Dieter Braun, hosted by Prof. Hermann E. Gaub at the LMU physics department.  Marco Hierling, a student of business administration and co-founder assists NanoTemper Technologies in business development and marketing issues.  The founders are grant-aided by the “EXIST-SEED” of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie (BMWi) and supported by Christoph Zinser of the LMU Kontaktstelle für Forschungs- und Technologietransfer.

NanoTemper Technologies will develop and market measurement systems for the fast all-optical characterization of biomolecules. The novel approach allows to speed up measurements by a factor of 10000 compared to state of the art techniques. The method is based on a recently developed microscopic theory of Thermophoresis.
