Photonics, plasmonics and metamaterials laid on the line

NIM-GP Workshop

Photonics has matured to become a key technology behind many applications found in the modern industry and research lab. Recent year have seen a rapid expansion of research into Plasmonics and Metamaterials, giving rise to novel light applications.

Owing to a great attention to these research fields, we have decided to organize the workshop interesting and beneficial equally for the students already working in these fields, and also for those, who would like to learn more about the "hype" behind these actively evolving topics.

The workshop is organized by the NIM-GP student board.


Time: Wednesday, 19 February 2014, 14:00h -17:5h

Venue: Juristische Fakultät, Professor-Huber-Platz 2, Room W401 (4th floor) (U-Bahn Universität)

Program (pdf):

  • Tutorial talks (Prof. Achim Hartschuh, Dr. Theo Lohmüller, Dr. Anton Kuzyk) highlighting the "must-know" facts and the current "hot" research questions.
  • PhD talks about the theoretical and numerical approaches to describe the optical properties of the nanostructures
