The program intends to raise interest for some of the subjects involved in NIM like physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacology and mathematics. Possible questions to be answered will be:

Is it possible to reconstruct life? Why is nano not only very very small? How do scientists get their new ideas? Why is Schrödinger’s cat living and dead at the same time?

The 37 participating pupils are divided into five groups. Two or three PhD students will take care of each group. They report on their own scientific biography, introduce their field of study and speak about what they are planning to do after their exam. They will offer a glance at the reality of scientific studies. The pupils will have the opportunity to carry out experiments and attend lectures and seminars at the university as well as talk to leading investigators.

The mentoring program has started at the end of September with an opening workshop at the LMU, where all mentors presented their fields of research and the mentoring groups were set up.
