The European Research Council (ERC) has selected Professor Jochen Feldmann, coordinator of NIM and chair of the Photonics and Optoelectronics Group at the LMU München, to receive an ERC Advanced Grant. According to the ERC guide lines this grant supports in the first instance risk-taking but potentially pioneering frontier research projects. "Unconventional methodologies and investigations at the interface between established disciplines" should form an important part. The titel of the supported project of the Feldmann group is "Hybrid Nanosystems in Phospholipid Membranes".

Within the last two years already four other NIM members received financial awards from the European Research Council - the ERC Starting Grant: Philip Tinnefeld, Jens Michaelis, Matthias Schneider and Dieter Braun.
