Christina Scheu is new professor in NIM

The physicist Christina Scheu has started as a professor at the Department for Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München in Großhadern in June 2008. Her field of work is "Transmission Electron Microscopy of Nanostructures". The professorship is completely funded by the cluster of excellence Nanosystems Initiative Munich (NIM). Prof. Scheu has been working at the Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria as a group leader for "Nano and Micro Analytics". Her work focusses on the structural and chemical analysis of materials with high resolution in space, mainly exploring the chemistry, bonds and structure of interfaces, segregations and nanocrystalline phases using versatile methods of transmission electron microscopy (TEM): conventional TEM, high resolution TEM, energy filtered TEM (EFTEM), electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), Electron Energy-Loss Near Edge Structure (ELNES), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX).
