Ernst Haage Prize for Aliaksandr Bandarenka

Excellent research in chemical energy conversion

NIM member Prof. Aliaksandr Bandarenka (TU Munich) was awarded the national Ernst Haage Prize 2016. The prize is given jointly by the Ernst Haage foundation and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion (MPI-CEC) and endowed with 7.500 EUR. Since 2006 it honors young scientists for outstanding achievements in this field.

The research of Aliaksandr Bandarenka, Assistant Professor at the Physics Department, is focused on the design and implementation of new materials for energy conversion and storage devices. This includes batteries, fuel cells, electrolyzers and supercapacitors. The main topic of the group is to better understand and characterize electrified interfaces. The material design is based on a bottom-up approach using input from electrochemical surface science and starting from model surfaces.
